Your Privacy Matters — Here's How We Protect It

At Spin Wheel, privacy isn't a checkbox — it's a core engineering principle. This policy explains exactly what data we collect (spoiler: almost none) and how we handle it.

Last Updated: February 24, 2026  |  Effective Date: February 24, 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to Spin Wheel (spinwheel.in). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you visit and use our website. By using Spin Wheel, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Spin Wheel is operated by proseoblogger, an independent full-stack web developer. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our users and ensuring a safe, transparent experience.

2. Information We Collect

Spin Wheel is designed to function with minimal data collection. Here is a clear breakdown:

2.1 Information We Do NOT Collect

  • ❌ Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
  • ❌ Account credentials (we don't have accounts or login systems)
  • ❌ Payment or financial information
  • ❌ Location data or GPS coordinates
  • ❌ Browsing history or cross-site tracking data
  • ❌ Device identifiers or fingerprinting data
  • ❌ Social media profiles or connections

2.2 Information Stored Locally (On Your Device Only)

Spin Wheel uses your browser's localStorage to save your preferences and improve your experience. This data is stored entirely on your device and is never transmitted to our servers. This includes:

  • Theme preference — Whether you've selected dark mode or light mode
  • Sound preference — Whether you've enabled or disabled tick sounds
  • Wheel entries — The names, numbers, or options you've typed into the wheel
  • Language preference — Your selected interface language

You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser's site data or localStorage for spinwheel.in.

2.3 Server Logs

Like most websites, our web server may automatically collect basic access logs that include:

  • IP address (anonymized where possible)
  • Browser type and version
  • Referring URL
  • Pages visited and timestamps

These logs are used solely for security monitoring, error debugging, and basic traffic analysis. They are not linked to individual identities and are periodically purged.

3. Cookies

Spin Wheel does not use cookies for tracking, analytics, or advertising purposes. We do not set first-party tracking cookies or allow third-party cookies.

If you embed Spin Wheel on another website via an iframe, that host website's cookie policies will apply independently. Spin Wheel itself does not set any cookies within the embedded iframe.

4. Third-Party Services

Spin Wheel is intentionally built to minimize third-party dependencies. Here's our current third-party usage:

🎊

canvas-confetti (CDN)

A lightweight JavaScript library loaded from jsDelivr CDN to create confetti animations when a winner is announced. jsDelivr may collect anonymous CDN usage statistics as per their own privacy policy.

🖥️

Web Hosting

Our website is hosted on standard web servers. The hosting provider may collect server access logs as described in Section 2.3.

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, Hotjar, Mixpanel, or any other analytics or tracking service.

5. Data Security

Since we collect virtually no personal data, the attack surface for data breaches is extremely small. Nevertheless, we take security seriously:

  • HTTPS encryption — All connections to spinwheel.in are encrypted via TLS/SSL
  • No database of user data — There is no centralized user database to breach
  • Client-side storage only — Your wheel entries and settings live in your browser, not on our servers
  • No authentication system — No passwords means no password leaks
  • Regular security audits — We monitor our infrastructure for vulnerabilities

6. Children's Privacy

Spin Wheel is a general-purpose utility tool that is safe for users of all ages, including children. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of consent in your jurisdiction).

Since Spin Wheel does not require account creation, does not collect personal data, and does not use tracking technologies, it is inherently compliant with children's privacy regulations such as COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act).

Teachers and educators frequently use Spin Wheel in classroom environments. We encourage parents and guardians to supervise younger children's internet usage as a general best practice.

7. Embedded Content & Iframes

Spin Wheel offers an embed feature that allows website owners to embed our wheel on their own sites using an <iframe> tag.

When Spin Wheel is embedded on a third-party website:

  • Spin Wheel's privacy practices (as described here) still apply within the iframe
  • The host website's own privacy policy governs data collection outside the iframe
  • We do not have control over the host website's tracking or data collection practices
  • No additional data is collected by Spin Wheel when it is loaded inside an iframe

8. Data Retention

localStorage data (theme, sound, entries) persists in your browser until you manually clear it. We have no ability to access, modify, or delete this data remotely — it is entirely under your control.

Server access logs are retained for a maximum of 90 days for security and debugging purposes, after which they are automatically purged.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR, CCPA, etc.), you may have the following rights:

  • Right to Access — You can view all data stored by Spin Wheel by opening your browser's Developer Tools → Application → localStorage
  • Right to Deletion — You can delete all stored data by clearing your browser's site data for spinwheel.in
  • Right to Portability — You can copy your wheel entries from the textarea at any time
  • Right to Opt-Out — Since we don't track you, there's nothing to opt out of. However, you can disable JavaScript to prevent localStorage usage entirely

If you have any questions about your data rights, please contact us at admin@spinwheel.in.

10. International Users

Spin Wheel is accessible globally and supports multiple languages. Since we do not collect personal data, the cross-border data transfer concerns that typically arise under GDPR and similar regulations are minimal.

Nevertheless, we are committed to complying with applicable international privacy laws, including:

  • GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) — European Union
  • CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act) — California, USA
  • PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act) — Canada
  • IT Act, 2000 — India

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.

We encourage you to review this page periodically to stay informed about how we protect your privacy. Continued use of Spin Wheel after changes to this policy constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
